NegEnt Elisir

NegEnt Elisir (registered name and trademark), consists of oil from the seeds of Cannabis Sativa L., an industrial variety, cultivated in Italy, following the directives of the law, number 242, of 2 December 2016, entitled: Provisions for the promotion of the cultivation and agro-industrial chain of hemp (Scrimali, 2020; Vasantha Rupasinghe, Davis, Kumar, Murray, Valtcho, Zheljazkov, 2020).

The oil, obtained by cold pressing the plant’s seeds, significantly implements the nutritional intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids, Omega 6 and Omega 3, contained in the grains of the industrial variety Cannabis Sativa L, in a ratio, considered optimal for human health, of 3 to 1 (Leizer, Ribnicky, Slavic, Raskin, 2000).

NegEnt Elisir also constitutes a source of cannabidiol, which is naturally present in Cannabis Sativa L seeds. This substance, which has no psychotropic effects, exhibits multiple activities that can contribute to human health, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and neurotrophic (Scrimali, 2022).

Also relevant with regard to the intake of NegEnt Elisir is the intake of vitamin E, which exhibits antioxidant properties, fights free radicals, and promotes cell metabolism (Petrovic, Debeljak, Kezic, Džidara, 2015; Scrimali, 2022).

Since cannabidiol is naturally present in the seeds of Cannabis Sativa L., Light, whose oil is admissible in Italy as a food supplement, NegEnt Elisir is considered by the Food Business Operator (FBO), Herbal Neurocare, who prepares and markets it, to be a safe food, traditionally used in Europe for centuries (Bulleri, 2020).

Herbal Neurocare, a Food Business Operator, takes responsibility for certifying that the cannabis sativa seed oil, which forms the basis of NegEnt Elixir, is derived from a plant, Cannabis Sativa L., an industrial (light) variety, the oil from whose seeds is permitted for use as a food supplement of plant origin.

Based on the evaluations carried out in the company by the Department for Scientific Research, directed by Prof. Tullio Scrimali, Physician, Neuroscientist, and Cannabis scientist, as well as the extensive and authoritative literature available, CBD, contained in NegEnt Elisir, is not a novel food, and therefore neither is this plant-based food supplement. Hemp seeds, leaves and flowers have, in fact, been part of the European and, particularly Italian, food tradition for at least 700 years. As evidenced by medieval, Renaissance and more recent cookbooks (Laurioux, 1988).

Herbal Neurocare produces, labels, and markets NegEnt Elisir within the framework of the Italian regulations on food supplements of plant origin, to be registered with the Ministry of Health under Article 10 of Legislative Decree No 169 of 21 May 2004, with a computerized procedure introduced in 2018. NegEnt Elisir was, therefore, duly notified, following the aforementioned telematic procedure, at the Ministry of Health, before being put on the market, on 8 November 202, and is present in the Register of Food Supplements, of the Ministry of Health, with code 167034.

NegEnt Elisir, together with a lifestyle involving adequate motor activity and a balanced, normal-calorie diet, contributes to a healthy heart and circulatory system and has never reported any side effects, even after prolonged intake (Scrimali, 2023).

Cannabidiol has also shown very promising results in the treatment of blood lipid profile disorders and metabolic syndrome, consisting of dyslipidaemia, hyperglycaemia and hypertension. Several controlled studies have demonstrated its positive effect on human health due to its ability to lower the level of low-density protein (LDL)-bound cholesterol, which tends to be deposited on the inner walls of arteries, and to increase the proportion of high-density protein (HDL)-bound cholesterol not linked to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Further studies have shown that CBD exhibits positive effects in patients with hypertension, although its hypotensive properties appear limited, they are very useful when combined with the use of traditional antihypertensives such as beta-blockers or calcium antagonists. In addition to this, CBD has been observed in several clinical studies to prevent pathological increases in blood pressure, stabilise them, and exert a protective effect on blood vessels, in particular on the inner cell lining layer, the endothelium, of which it can reduce the inflammation that constitutes the first stage of atherosclerosis (Wicinski, Fajkiel-Madajczyk, Kurant et Al., 2023).

The cannabidiol contained in NegEnt Elixir also optimises the functioning of the central and peripheral nervous system, improving and maintaining mental balance and ensuring physiological and restorative sleep. It also slows down neuronal degeneration and brain ageing and maintains cognitive processes. NegEnt Elisir, combined with specific treatment, can also help reduce neuropathic pain. (Batalla, Bos, Postma, Bossong, 2020).

NegEnt Elisir also contributes to preserving the health and functionality of joints through its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect, slowing down the senescence of cartilage that leads to senile osteoarthritis processes (Ihejirika-Lomedico, Lorentz, Ihejirika, Leucht (2023).

NegEnt Elisir constitutes, for all the above, a nutraceutical product whose daily use appears capable of promoting and maintaining high levels of health, both physical and mental, throughout the life cycle. In particular, starting from middle age, its daily use helps to promote healthy and balanced senescence, ensuring good health and high psychophysical performance even in the final phase of the life cycle (Paradisi, Oddi, Maccarrone, 2006).
